CollegeHumor enters movie biz
CollegeHumor Media is getting into the motion picture business, tapping Brad Copeland ("Arrested Development") to make his feature directorial debut with "Coffee Town" a comedy that will star TV thesps Glenn Howerton ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"), Steve Little ("Eastbound & Down") and Ben Schwartz ("House of Lies"), as well as Grammy-winning singer Josh Groban ("Crazy, Stupid, Love").A modern-day workplace comedy for today's job-hopping generation, "Coffee Town" follows three thirty-something friends who band together when their freeloading existence is threatened.Howerton will play an underachieving web designer who plans to stage a fake robbery in order to preserve his daily routine at a local coffee shop, which is being converted into a pub.Hoping to build upon its decade-long track record of creating and marketing irreverent comedy content, CollegeHumor will finance and produce the R-rated laffer, which will be produced by CollegeHumor co-founder Ricky Van Veen."Brad has a sharp yet universal comic sensibility and we're confident he's going to be a fantastic director," said Van Veen. "Coupled with the amazing cast we have so far, we're incredibly enthusiastic about this project."Production will begin next month in Los Angeles, and no release date is currently set.UTA-repped Copeland, who wrote the hit family comedies "Wild Hogs" and "Yogi Bear," is currently involved in several active projects, including the big screen adaptation of the classic 1960s TV series "Gilligan's Island," as well as a remake of Disney's "Flight of the Navigator." Kaleidoscope nabs 'Victim' in U.K.
LONDON -- Kaleidoscope Ing. has clicked up U.K. privileges to urban Brit drama "Victim." Pic toplines Ashley Face and Michael Maris, who both starred in street dramas "Sket" and "Anuvahood." The duo also composed the pic, that is helmed by Alex Pillai. "Victim," which informs the storyline of 1 youthful man's tries to get out of a cycle of violence and crime, marks the debut feature from Pure Films, a brand new shingle headed up by Danny Donnelly, creator of Pure Garage/Pure R&B music labels.
Supporting cast include Adam Deacon ("Their adult years"), Frank Harper ("Football Factory"), Jason Maza ("Aquarium"), Ashley Madekwe ("Secret Diary of the Call Girl"), David Harewood ("Bloodstream Gemstone"), Letitia Wright ("Top Boy") and Shanika Warren-Markland ("4,3,2,1"). Pic is skedded for any spring theatrical release in Blighty. Kaleidoscope's sales arm, Kaleidoscope Film Distribution, is going to be selling the film worldwide in the Berlin Film Festival in Feb.
